Abel Burke was raised in a Christian home of eight children in Glendora, CA. During his senior year of high school, he read the book, “Don’t Waste Your Life” by John Piper. It was at that point he felt a call to ministry and began serving as a Junior High Intern at Christ Community Church of Laguna Hills. During that time, he fell in love with preaching the word, and seeing students come to know Jesus. After this internship, he began serving as a College and Youth Pastor at Sierra Madre Congregational Church. While in Sierra Madre, he met and married his wife, Sarah. After serving there for 7 years, he took a break from ministry and worked at a school for underprivileged students. During that time, he and his wife started a Bible study in the park with students and young adults. After serving at the school, he was hired as an interim pastor at Ambassador Church in Anaheim. It was during that time he moved to San Dimas and continued the Bible study in the park. Over a period of a couple years at Ambassador Church, God began to put it on his heart to plant a gospel-centered church in the city of San Dimas. On January 9, 2022, Abel and a team of believers from the park planted Redemption Bible Church. He has served as the lead pastor of RBC ever since.
Abel graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Thomas Edison State College, and then went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Biola University Talbot School of Theology. He is passionate about gospel-centered and biblical preaching, and seeing people come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
In his spare time, Abel enjoys spending time with his wife and son, Jackson. He also enjoys welding, wood working, exercising, and restoring classic cars.
