This week, we dove in the story from Acts 16 that showed the power of God's kindness. In the story, found in Acts 16:16-34, Paul and Silas are unfairly beaten and imprisoned for casting out a demon. But instead of complaining and growing angry or dispairing, they respond with singing and praise to God.
When God sends an earthquake to free them, this spells certain death for the unfortunate jailer. And yet, instead of freeing themselves, Paul and Silas choose to show kindness to the jailer and convince the other inmates to stay put.
This kindness leads to the jailer's conversion and acceptance of the Gospel, and his whole family is saved!
This is the power of the kindess of God!
When we do not look only to ourselves, but think first of Christ and how we can love those around us (even despite who they are or what they have done), it can be POWERFUL in the lives of others!
Titus 3:4-5:
4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit
This kind of kindness is impactful, but it is certainly not easy to display! God calls us to show this kindness to everyone, even those we may consider enemies, because he showed it to us first.
